Fashion on the Farm – How the Drought Helped to Grow a Business

Sue is the youngest daughter of a once prosperous rural family in country New South Wales, Australia, third generation graziers on a large pastoral property stricken for several years by drought.

Like many people her age, Sue was compelled to consider leaving farm and family for a more certain future in the city.

With most businesses in her town closed or struggling to stay open, the heart was slowly torn from the regional economy and the local community. Banks foreclosed and families left the area. Even the banks themselves closed their local branches. Sue’s two older brothers moved away to find the only work they knew, farm work, on distant properties still managing to survive.

Sue, in any case, had different ambitions. A talented textile design student with a passion for fashion, she had dreams of one day starting her own clothing label.

Between studies and helping her mother around the home, Sue spent as much time as she could on the computer, surfing fashion and design sites, building her knowledge and gathering ideas.

Chance led her to click on an “affiliate” link. She’d noticed similar links on other sites and finally, curiosity took over.

Sue quickly discovered that many fashion houses needed people just like her to become their affiliate marketers, helping promote and sell fashion on the internet. As she realised this could be an ideal way to launch her own fashion career, Sue became more and more excited. She began noticing the wide range of affiliate marketing activities taking place online, and the prospect of conducting her own internet fashion business looked real.

Sue decided to learn as much about affiliate marketing as quickly as she could. She enrolled in a leading online affiliate marketing program which not only taught her what she wanted to know but also provided all of the tools, resources and mentoring needed to launch her successful career in fashion. An online affiliate marketing university which teaches you to earn as you learn. Within a few weeks, Sue discovered that while local shops were closing their doors, an online business is always open to the world.

The money generated by Sue’s niche marketing of women’s fashion and accessories allowed her to bring her own designs to fruition, start her own label and promote it online, too.

By the way, Sue still hasn’t packed her bags!

If you have a passion for working at something you love, you can make it happen, too …
